- This standard describes the requirements for electrical/electronic/programmable electronic systems (E/E/PES), sensors, terminal components and interfaces used in automated safety instrumented systems in industrial production processes (reference C.6). Examples of applications of E/E/PES technology include: a) electromechanical relays; b) solid-state logic; c) programmable electronic systems; d) motor-driven timers; e) solid-state relays and timers; f) hard-wired logic; g) combination of the above. This standard does not apply to Basic Process Control Systems (BPCS) o This standard does not apply to pneumatic or hydraulic logic controllers.
