- This standard specifies the basic design requirements for the main steam system of a pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant to ensure that the main steam system can safely and reliably perform its intended functions. This standard applies to the design of the main steam system of a pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant. It does not include design requirements for equipment, nor does it include operation, maintenance and testing requirements of the system, unless it is directly related to the system design.
