Scope

This standard specifies the testing and calibration methods for reciprocating internal combustion engines used in oil fields. This standard applies to reciprocating internal combustion engines used in oil fields. The purpose of the test methods specified in this standard is to provide the buyer with a unified benchmark for comparison of similar equipment in terms of power size, power requirements and recommended speed range. Because maintenance and durability factors are not included in the test program, engine comparisons should be made with caution. Standalone ratings apply only to engines not equipped with an external cooling system.
