- This standard specifies four non-destructive testing methods and quality classifications: radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing and penetrant testing. Ray (X, r) detection is suitable for the detection and quality grading of pipeline circumferential butt joints in long-distance oil and gas transportation, gathering transportation and stations with wall thicknesses of 2mm ~ 50mm low carbon steel, low alloy steel and other metal materials. Ultrasonic testing is suitable for the detection and quality grading of circumferential butt joints of pipelines with wall thicknesses of 5mm to 50mm and pipe diameters of 57mm to 1400mm, such as carbon steel, low alloy steel and other metal materials for oil and gas long-distance transportation, gathering and transportation and stations. ; Not suitable for the detection of butt joints between elbows and straight pipes, neck flanges and straight pipes, and return elbows and straight pipes. Magnetic particle testing is suitable for the detection and acceptance of surface and near-surface defects of welded joints of ferromagnetic materials in oil and gas long-distance transportation, gathering and transportation, station pipelines and atmospheric steel storage tanks. Penetration testing is suitable for the detection and acceptance of surface opening defects in welded joints of carbon steel, low alloy steel and other metal materials for oil and gas long-distance transportation, gathering and transportation, and station pipelines, as well as atmospheric steel storage tanks. This standard does not apply to non-destructive testing of industrial and public pipelines, nor does it apply to non-destructive testing of oil and gas pipeline pipe manufacturing welds.
