- This standard specifies the use, design, manufacturing and testing requirements for locomotive bearing temperature monitoring and alarm devices (hereinafter referred to as devices). It also specifies the basic requirements for software and hardware that must be universally interchangeable for the device and the basic provisions for its sensor network. This standard applies to temperature monitoring and alarm devices for railway locomotives (including EMU power cars) axle box bearings, traction motor bearings, rolling axle bearings or wheel set hollow shaft bearings.
