Scope
This standard specifies the basic principles for the management of process hazards during the design, construction, start-up, operation, acceptance, maintenance and modification of oil and gas processing facilities. This standard applies to facilities that use, produce, process or store oil, natural gas or their intermediate products and flammable, explosive, toxic, harmful and hazardous substances with potentially disastrous leaks. This standard does not apply to: a) Commercial operations for distribution, wholesale and retail; b) Liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities and pipelines and transportation operations; c) Oil and gas drilling, services, production facilities and operations; d) Not Natural gas processing facilities included in Appendix B (the standard appendix); e) Hydrocarbon storage facilities for on-site use as fuel; f) Flammable and combustible bulk liquids that do not react at atmospheric pressure without cooling or refrigeration Storage and transfer of materials. Liquefied petroleum gas storage facilities, including above-ground facilities for underground storage tanks, are within the scope of this standard. Unless specifically stated not included in d) above.
