Scope
This standard specifies a penetrant non-destructive testing method for detecting bearing bonding defects and sliding surface defects. This penetrant testing method is suitable for: a) Inspection of bonding defects in the transition area between the bearing backing and bearing alloy materials located on the end face and counterpart face of multi-layer sliding bearings, and cannot be subjected to ultrasonic inspection according to TB/T 2959-1999 Inspection of bonding defects. b) Inspection of bearing sliding surface defects. Penetrant testing of multi-layer sliding bearings should generally be carried out after the final machining process. Inspection of bonding defects is only applicable to cast multi-layer sliding bearings whose backing material consists of steel, cast steel or cast bronze. This method cannot be used for sliding bearings where the bearing backing is tin-plated or made of materials that are difficult to tin plate, such as pearlitic cast iron, stainless steel or cast aluminum. This method cannot be used because there is no bonding layer between the bearing backing and the bearing alloy material. Check for bonding defects.
