Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements for Gigabit Ethernet switches, including functional indicators, communication protocols, communication interfaces, environmental requirements, etc. A Gigabit Ethernet switch refers to an Ethernet switch with a Gigabit Ethernet interface. All unspecified switch provisions in this standard refer specifically to Gigabit Ethernet switches. This standard only specifies Gigabit Ethernet switches operating on the second data link layer of ISO's OSI7 layer reference model. Layer 3 switching and higher layer switching are outside the scope of this standard. This standard is suitable for the research and development and technology introduction of Gigabit Ethernet switches. In this standard: ·Must: Indicates that the item is required by this standard.
