Scope
Part 2 is a supplement to Part 1 and provides measurement methods suitable for terrestrial wireless relay systems using digital modulation. The purpose of this part is to provide recommended measurement methods for terrestrial radio relay systems and their associated subsystems to facilitate the evaluation of their primary performance, and it is to be used in conjunction with Part 1. When measurements common to terrestrial wireless relay systems and satellite communication earth stations are required, refer to the corresponding standards in Part 1. Thus, the standards in Part 2 give only those specific aspects of a measurement that apply to terrestrial radio-relay systems. The measurement methods given in the standards later in this part are neither mandatory nor restrictive; in each specific case, the corresponding measurement method may be chosen, for example, for bit rates below approximately 34 Mbit/s , the measurement of characteristic curves and some more complex measurements may not be meaningful. On the other hand, for complex modulation methods like 64QAM, more comprehensive measurements may be required (under study). Those parameters or measurement methods applicable only to terrestrial wireless relay systems are fully described in the corresponding sections of this part.
