Scope: The measurement conditions and methods of measuring various characteristics given in Part 1 are common to terrestrial wireless relay systems and satellite communication earth station systems using digital modulation. These test methods are general and applicable to systems of all capacities and the tests carried out shall be agreed upon by all parties involved. The purpose of this standard is to introduce the measurement conditions and methods used to determine the performance of digital microwave wireless transmission systems and equipment used in such systems, and to facilitate the comparison of measurement results by different observers. This standard includes details of the measurement methods selected for the evaluation of the principal properties of digital microwave radio transmission systems and the equipment used in such systems. These methods are neither mandatory nor restrictive; in each specific case, the corresponding measurement method may be chosen. If necessary, some additional measurements can be made in accordance with relevant national standards, industry standards or international standards. In this standard, acceptable limits for various parameters are not specified, as these limits should be given in the detailed equipment specifications. The measurement methods described in this standard are intended to be used for "type" and "acceptance" tests under simulated conditions, and may also be used for factory testing.
