Scope: This standard specifies the PNNI protocol used between ATM switching offices in my country's multimedia communication network. PNNI includes two types of protocols: 　——The first type specifies the topology information distributed between switching offices: 　——The second type of protocol specifies signaling messages and procedures. PNNI l.0 version has the following features: 　——Supports all the capabilities of UNI3.1 and part of UNI4.O; 　——Can be applied to large networks; 　——Supports hierarchical routing: 　——Supports QoS: 　——Supports Metrics and attributes of routes; 　——Connection establishment to support origin routing; 　——Support for dynamic loss after changes in resource availability; 　——Routing protocols between and within peer groups; 　——Connections with external routing domains Interoperability; 　——Support physical links and VPC tunnels; 　——Support soft PVPC/PVCC; 　——Support anycast capability. PNNI is applicable to the signaling protocol standard between network node interfaces or between networks. Its protocol is mainly used between switching offices within the network, and can also be applied between different networks.
