- This standard applies to test procedures for characterizing medical diagnostic X-ray equipment systems or components that require well-defined radiation conditions. Except for mammography. This standard does not apply where discontinuities in radiation-absorbing elements are deliberately chosen to improve the characteristics of the radiation beam (for example, the use of rare earth filter plates). Speed measurements of screened systems are not considered in this standard. This topic will be covered by an ISO standard.
