Scope: This standard specifies the characteristics of flexible multiplexing equipment used for access networks. This equipment can provide service providers with the ability to transparently transmit and process various services, provide enhanced system management capabilities, and can also have centralized functions. The branch interface of this multiplexing device adopts a common interface related to the business. The internal mapping function is based on the n×64kbit/s signal of recommended G.704. Sub-64kbit/s signals can also be processed. This equipment can be divided into flexible multiplexing equipment based on PDH environment and flexible multiplexing equipment based on SDH environment. The management of equipment is consistent with the general principles of TMN. This standard specifies the functional characteristics, network configuration, interface requirements, detection of defects and failure states and corresponding measures, as well as equipment performance, etc. of PDH flexible multiplexing equipment and SDH flexible multiplexing equipment. This standard is applicable to the research and development of flexible multiplexing sound equipment; suitable for use in access networks to flexibly connect multiple services to corresponding service nodes.
