- This standard specifies the test items, test indicators and test methods for narrowband passive optical network (PON) equipment's system configuration, test reference point definition, interface testing, business and functional verification, power supply and environmental testing. This standard applies to narrowband passive optical network (PON) equipment for access networks in public telecommunications networks, and can also be used as a reference for private telecommunications networks. This standard is based on the use of Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) communication protocol for the uplink channel, and other communication protocols are not excluded from practical applications. Test specifications for broadband distribution services (such as CATV) and optical amplifiers used in optical access networks (OAN) are not considered within the scope of this standard.
