The methods described in this document are primarily intended for testing commonly isolated anaerobic bacteria. The agar dilution method can be used to test for most anaerobic pathogens. The broth microdilution method is currently used only for testing pathogenic bacteria of the Bacteroides fragilis group. This standard applies to antimicrobial susceptibility testing of anaerobic bacteria.
