Scope

This standard specifies the structural type and basic dimensions, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and markings, packaging, transportation and storage requirements for low friction coefficient synthetic brake shoes for railway freight cars. This standard applies to low friction coefficient synthetic brake shoes for railway freight cars running at a speed not greater than 95km/h. Low friction coefficient synthetic brake shoes (hereinafter referred to as brake shoes) can be used interchangeably with phosphorus cast iron brake shoes.
