- This standard applies only to large above-ground storage tanks storing flammable and combustible liquids. The storage tank referred to in this standard refers to a storage tank with a diameter of 30m (100ft) or larger, or a storage capacity of 12640m3 (80000bb1) or more. The purpose of this standard is to provide guidance on fire protection and fire extinguishing matters for large above-ground storage tanks containing flammable and combustible liquids. Previous fire data on large storage tanks were consulted in the preparation of this standard.
