- Scope
- This standard specifies the method for the determination of unsaponifiable matter and unsaponifiable matter in soap. This standard is applicable to the determination of the content of unsaponifiable and unsaponified substances that are soluble in petroleum ether (or n-hexane) and saponifiable but unsaponified substances in soap, in addition to free fatty acids. This standard does not apply to soaps with a high content of sterols or long-chain alcohols, nor to soaps and compound soaps containing fragrances.
