This method is suitable for the determination of Vickers hardness of glazed surfaces of daily pottery, stoneware, and porcelain. The glazed Vickers hardness of pottery, stoneware, and porcelain is measured by using a diamond square pyramid indenter with an angle of 136° between two opposite sides. Under a certain load, the surface of the sample to be measured is pressed. After the loading time, remove the load and measure the diagonal length of the indentation to determine. Therefore, the hardness measured by this method is essentially the relative hardness of the sample surface to the diamond indenter.
