- This standard determines the terminology used in the foundry machinery profession (including sand processing, smelting and pouring, molding and core making, falling sand cleaning, special casting and other equipment). This standard applies to the foundry machinery profession and is used when formulating relevant standards, technical documents and preparing other publications. This standard does not apply to non-casting machinery majors. When non-casting machinery majors encounter terms with the same name and synonyms, each major will interpret it according to the standards of its own major.
