- This standard specifies the test conditions, severity levels, test procedures, test interruption processing, and qualification criteria for salt spray tests on ship equipment components, materials, and their protective layers, and provides relevant engineering guidelines. This standard is applicable to assess the salt spray corrosion resistance of equipment, components, materials and protective layers exposed to atmospheric conditions and to evaluate the quality and uniformity of metal protective layers. This standard is not suitable as a general corrosion test method.
