This standard specifies the general methods and acceptance criteria for ultrasonic detection of pipe seat fillet weld and heat shadow zone defects, determination of defect location, size and defect assessment. This standard is applicable to the ultrasonic flaw detection of fully welded, fusion-welded Class 1 and Class 2 pipe seat fillet welds of installed nozzles or plug-in nozzles connected to ferritic steel nuclear-grade vessel shells with a thickness of not less than 10 mm. This standard does not apply to the fillet welds of austenitic stainless steel pipe seats, the fillet welds of pipe seats with an inner diameter of less than or equal to 60mm, the radius of curvature of the shell less than or equal to 250mm, and the ratio of wall thickness to outer diameter greater than 13%.
