- This standard specifies the model, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage and other requirements for positive pressure fire-fighting air breathing apparatus. This standard applies to positive pressure fire-fighting air used by firefighters and emergency rescue personnel to prevent inhalation of toxic gases, smoke, harmful pollutants suspended in the air, or in oxygen-deficient environments when they are engaged in fire fighting or rescue operations. Respirator (hereinafter referred to as respirator).
