- This standard specifies the lightning protection requirements and qualification test methods for aircraft structures, fuel systems, control systems and related components installed outside the aircraft. The requirements described here are the minimum requirements that must be met for aircraft lightning protection. This standard does not include protection requirements and test methods for lightning indirect effects of electrical or electronic equipment inside the aircraft.
