Scope

This standard specifies the minimum performance requirements for flight directors used on piston engine transport category aircraft. This standard applies to flight directors (hereinafter referred to as instruments) used on aircraft. The pilot can visually observe the instrument instructions and correctly control the aircraft to fly according to the predetermined flight plan.
