- This standard specifies the minimum safety performance requirements for civil aircraft turning and sideslip instruments. This standard applies to instruments that measure and indicate the rate of turn along the vertical axis of the aircraft and are equipped with a sideslip indicator (also applicable to separate turn and sideslip indicators). The turning instruments in this standard include the following three basic types: Category I - pneumatic drive; Category II - DC drive; Category III - AC drive.
