Scope: This standard specifies the general requirements for the design, manufacture, testing and acceptance of aircraft thermal anti-icing systems. This standard is applicable to the anti-icing of military aircraft and is not applicable to the anti-icing of engine air intake systems and radomes. This standard is the basis for the design, manufacture and acceptance of aircraft thermal anti-icing systems. For any pre-design for a given purpose, if deviation from this standard will improve system performance, reduce life cycle costs and research and development expenses, or if following this standard will reduce system performance, the design unit shall demonstrate the details that need to be improved. Changes in the design can only be made with the consent of the ordering party.
