Scope
1.1 This classification system represents the properties of vulcanized rubber materials (natural rubber, reclaimed rubber and synthetic rubber alone or in combination) in tables. These vulcanized rubber materials are intended for use in automotive rubber products, but are not limited thereto. Note: This classification system can meet many needs of other industries and is roughly the same as SAE steel numbering. But it is important to remember that this system will be revised to meet the needs of the automotive industry. It is recommended to always use the latest version. 1.2 This classification system is based on the premise that the properties of all rubber products can be listed with unique material codes. These material designations are determined by type and grade. The type is based on heat resistance and the grade is based on oil swelling resistance. This establishes the basic requirements.
