Scope

This standard specifies a chemical method for the determination of free formaldehyde content in phenolic resins using potentiometric titration in aqueous or organic solutions. This method is suitable for phenolic resins with a free formaldehyde content of less than and equal to 15% (m/m). For resins with a free formaldehyde content of 15% to 30% (m/m), the concentration of the standard titrant used must be adjusted accordingly.
