1.1 This standard specifies the numerical aperture measurement method of optical fiber cables in the field of optical fiber communications. It is applicable to graduated multi-mode optical fiber cables and is one of the inspection basis for the production, sales and use of optical fiber cables. 1.2 The far-field method specified in this standard determines the numerical aperture of the optical fiber based on measuring the far-field optical power distribution at the output end of the optical fiber. It has the advantages of accuracy and simplicity. This method is mainly suitable for measuring the numerical aperture (NA) of Al-type optical fibers.
