The purpose of this standard is to specify performance requirements for acoustic measurement and analysis equipment used for aircraft noise assessment based on the procedures specified in ISO 3891 for spectrum analysis measurements as a function of time. This is to ensure that the results obtained by various noise assessment departments using different instruments and equipment are comparable to each other.
