Scope
This standard specifies the design, manufacturing, inspection and acceptance requirements for titanium welded vessels (including shells and other components made of all-titanium, titanium-lined and titanium composite steel plates). This standard applies to titanium welded atmospheric pressure vessels and titanium welded pressure vessels with design pressures not greater than 35MPa. The applicable design temperature range of this standard is determined based on the allowable service temperature of titanium materials and titanium composite plates. The applicable design temperature range for titanium-lined vessels also takes into account the difference in linear expansion coefficients between titanium and steel. This standard does not apply to the following types of vessels: a) Vessels heated directly by flame; b) Vessels in nuclear energy installations; c) Pressure chambers that are components of rotating or reciprocating mechanical equipment (such as centrifugal pump casings , reciprocating pump cylinder, compressor cylinder, cooling engine cylinder, blower casing, centrifuge drum, etc.); d) Frequently transported containers; e) Inner diameter (for non-circular cross-sections, refers to the width, height or Containers with diagonal lines (e.g. rectangle as diagonal and ellipse as long axis) less than 150mm; f) Containers for fatigue analysis. The calculation method for each element of the container listed in this standard applies to all-titanium containers. The steel parts of containers made of titanium and titanium composite steel plates are designed according to the corresponding steel container standards. The strength of the titanium layer is generally not included in the calculation. For pressure components whose structural dimensions cannot be determined using this standard, the following methods are allowed to be designed, but must be evaluated and approved by the National Pressure Vessel Standardization Technical Committee: ——Stress analysis including the finite element method; ——Confirmatory testing Analysis (such as test stress analysis, confirmatory hydraulic test); ——Comparative empirical design using comparable structures that have been put into use.
