- This standard specifies the definitions, symbols, codes, classifications, normal use and installation conditions, structural and performance requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage requirements for marine electromechanical control circuit appliances. This standard applies to control switches used for control, signaling, interlocking and other purposes in marine switchgear and control equipment. This standard is applicable to control switches whose rated voltage does not exceed AC 500V (frequency does not exceed 1000Hz) or DC 600V; this standard is generally not recommended for control switches whose operating voltage is less than AC or DC 100V.
