Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for fire prevention, detection and extinguishing of nuclear power plants throughout their life cycle from construction to operation. This standard applies to nuclear power plants of the light water reactor, heavy water reactor and gas-cooled reactor types. Sodium-cooled fast breeder reactors are not specifically discussed, but fire protection measures applicable to fast breeder reactor systems can be found in these guidelines. .
