- This standard specifies the classification, technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules of bentonite and clay for casting. This standard applies to foundry bentonite used as a binder and suspending agent for molding sand, core sand and coatings in foundry production, and the main component is montmorillonite. This standard also applies to foundry clay used as a binder for molding sand, core sand and coatings in foundry production, with the main component being kaolinite.
