Scope

This standard specifies a method for determining the nitrogen content and "cortex" of leather - the titration method, which is applicable to various types of leather made with various tanning methods. The determination of "cortex" from the nitrogen content is based on the results obtained by Schrode and Passter, that is, the dry matter of various animal skins without grease and ash has a slight nitrogen content. Different, but the nitrogen content of some animals is actually a constant.
