- 1.1 Content This standard specifies the requirements for drill string components (except drill pipe), including threaded connections, measurement methods and standard gauges. It also includes the storage and use of regional gauges, calibration gauges and working gauges as appendices. 1.2 Material requirements are not otherwise specified in this scope. Materials used for components of this standard may vary according to their use, but shall comply with the manufacturer's written standards. The manufacturer's written standards should list in detail: 1. Chemical composition limitations; 2. Heat treatment conditions; 3. Mechanical property limitations; a. Tensile strength; b. Yield strength; c. Elongation; d. Hardness.
