- This standard classifies wires and cables according to their characteristics in fire, and points out the test methods for determining the fire performance of wires and cables. This standard is suitable for testing the fire performance of wires and cables used in railway vehicles. Other wires and cables with similar uses may be used with reference. This standard does not include requirements for toxic gases released by burning wires and cables, as well as smoke density and smoke opacity.
