Scope

This standard specifies a test method for measuring the opacity of paper and cardboard (paper backing) using diffuse reflectance. This law only applies to white or nearly white paper or cardboard. Samples treated with fluorescent dyes or showing significant fluorescence reaction can be measured, but the results measured by different instruments are often inconsistent.
