Scope
This method is used to test the amount of residual carbon left behind after the oil sample evaporates or decomposes (Note 1), and can provide its coking tendency. Therefore, it is usually used in atmospheric distillation to produce partially decomposed non-volatile petroleum products. If the oil contains ash () components, due to the formation of ash, the amount of residual carbon will be high and errors will occur. Therefore, the CNS_Petroleum Products Ash Test Method must be used to measure the ash. Note: (1)
