- The measurement value of this method indicates the relative trend of carbon deposits produced by petroleum products after their evaporation and high temperature decomposition (Pyrolysis) (Note 1). This method mainly measures petroleum products with low volatility that will partially decompose during thermal distillation under normal pressure. If petroleum products contain components that constitute ash (CNS 3576, Petroleum Products Ash Content Testing Method), this method will cause errors when measured.
