Scope
This standard specifies a method for the determination of mercaptan sulfur in gasoline, kerosene, aviation turbine fuel and distillate fuel containing 0.0003 to 0.01 mass percent (wt. %) mercaptan sulfur. Organic sulfides, such as sulfides, disulfides, and thiothiophenes, will not interfere, nor will elemental sulfur with a content of less than 0.0005 mass percent. Hardened hydrogen may cause interference if not removed as described in Section 8.2.
