Scope

This standard specifies the ability of optical fiber connectors to withstand the impact of dry dust (fine sand) environments. This test simulates the penetration of dust (fine sand) with sharp edges into cracks, gaps and joints to 150 microns (micrometers). This test is applicable to all mechanical, electrical, electronic, biological, electrochemical and electromagnetic equipment that may be exposed to dust-filled environments. However, this method is not suitable for the dust environment in Southeast Asia.
