Scope

This standard specifies the exhaust smoke emission limits for compression ignition engine vehicles using the loading and deceleration method. This standard applies to in-use vehicles equipped with compression ignition engines, with a maximum total mass greater than 400kg, and a maximum design speed greater than or equal to 50km/h. This standard does not apply to vehicles with compact multiple drive axles or full-time four-wheel drive.
