- This standard stipulates a test method for measuring five optical fiber geometric parameters to evaluate the inherent splicing loss when two optical fibers are joined together by fusion or mechanical means. (In addition to geometric mismatches, mismatches in aperture values, as measured by CNS 11706 [Fiber Optic Device Inspection Method (Measurement of Output Far-Field Emission Patterns FOTP-47)], will also affect their inherent splice losses).
