- This standard specifies how to use a thin-tube sampler to take soil samples for laboratory testing without disturbing them (1). Note (1): The sampling method that does not disturb the soil is to use pressure to press the thin tube sampler into the on-site soil until it reaches a predetermined depth, then take it out and seal both ends to prevent the soil sample from being disturbed or losing water. Note: This standard does not apply to lined samplers.
