- This standard is applicable to magnetic particle testing of the surface and subsurface of the weld bead area of steel structures, including steel structures that bear static or dynamic forces. This standard specifies the minimum requirements for magnetic particle testing timing, testing equipment, testing materials, testing technology, display evaluation, defect types and acceptance criteria. When used for special weld bead inspection, it may be determined in accordance with other relevant standards, but shall not be lower than this standard.
