Scope

This standard specifies the Open System Interconnection (OSI) and provides the most basic and necessary transport protocol implementation requirements for local area network (LAN), packet network (Packet Network) and wide area network (WAN) integration. This standard also specifies the protocol implementation requirements for two OSI transport services, Connection-mode and Connectionless-mode.
