- The purpose of this standard is to specify symbols, symbol terminology systems and recommend the use of various flow chart methods to facilitate internal and interoperable use by users and manufacturers in microtechnology and the entire information technology field. This standard specifies the symbols and symbolic language used in microfilming operations, including the definition, functions and characteristics of the representing operations. Also standardize and recommend flowchart management systems (level 1) and operating systems (level 1).
