- ll This standard specifies the gamma spectroscopy method for determination of gamma radioactive nuclei in water samples, which can be applied to nuclei with gamma energy greater than 20 keV. For commonly used counting systems and sample morphologies, the ease of measurement is approximately 40 Bq, and the sensitivity can be as low as 0.4 Bq for many nuclear species. Due to limitations of electronic instruments, the counting rate must not exceed 2000 cps. High count rate samples can be diluted or increased
